I have already interviewed several home entrepreneurs on how they started their "small" businesses. But after setting up the business, the harder challenge to face is how to keep your company in operation. And during these times of financial instability, it is rather unfortunate to be out of business just a few months after its inception. Sadly though, such things happen and many of those who have closed shop merely failed to undertake simple measures to boost the home business.
Here are a few pointers on how to make your home business grow.
Advertise
No matter how small your home business is, advertising is a must. Remember that no matter what it is that you offer, no matter how good it is, and mo matter how affordable or competitive the price may be, if you don't advertise, selling won't be as much income generating.
Advertising comes in various forms. It may be the costly print or TV ads or the simple posters and leaflets that you can distribute in the neighborhood. What is important is that you are able to introduce your company, your goods or services to the public.
But there is more than just having those posters and leaflets distributed in every corner or coming up with those TV commercials. You must likewise get people to respond to your ad. And the "free" or "on sale" words do the trick. Offer "free trial" or "samples" to get people to try and ultimately like your product. And in these hard-up times, people are always on the look out for freebies and discounts. So if you put those catchy words, people will get interested on your product or service.
Telephone Availability
It is important that people would be able to reach you anytime for orders or inquiries. If possible have a fax machine too. Clients will appreciate it if they can immediately get in touch with you and if you reply quickly to their request, the higher probability that they will buy from you.
Don't forget though to teach your staff the proper telephone manners. Phone courtesy counts a lot these days.
Quality of Service
Make the sales process easy for your customers. Remember, customers hate any form of hassle while making a purchase. Avoid long queues in front of the cash register. Be very polite to your customers. A smile goes a long way in establishing good rapport and relationship with your customers.
The simple tips above are easy to carry out. Sometimes though, they are taken for granted. Be very mindful of these things because these may yet be your ticket to success!
