How To Organize A Garage Sale

Have you experienced the time when you did not have enough place in your clothes? Do you have those pair of shoes that you have used only once? And what about all the kids' toys that they no longer play with or have outgrown? How about the time when you really wanted to buy a new sofa set but just don't know where to put the old one? And all those dinnerware that remain inside the cabinet, still waiting to be unloaded from their boxes?

So what should you do with all these unused or seldom used items in the house? You wouldn't want to just throw them away. The answer: sell them. This way, you get the clutter out of the house and definitely you will be amazed on the income you derive from the sales. Another wonderful thing about garage sale is that you earn right at your home.

Gather the items

Schedule one weekend to identify and set aside all the items in the house that you feel you no longer need. It may be difficult because most of us wouldn't want to really sell what we have bought. But be practical and just think of the space that you may soon have when you actually get rid of the items that you don't use that occupy so much space in the house.

Sort it all out

Once the items have been set aside, check on their condition. Are the buttons on a shirt complete? Any holes or stains? Are the toys still working? Are the furniture or dinnerware still useable? Make sure that your goods are still worth wearing or using. Otherwise, it is more advisable not to include them. Group similar items together, just the way they do it in stores. This will male shopping for your customers easy.

Peg reasonable prices

Consider the quality of your goods and don't try to sell at the same price when you bought them. Most people who go to garage sales expect low priced goods. Profits would be most welcomed but it would be better to get rid of all the items (which is what you actually want in the first place!) by selling them at a lower price. Also expect some haggling, so try to have a price range for each goods. Once you have determined the price, put a tag on each item. Also, while doing the pricing, make sure you have your own list in a notebook for reference.
