iTunes Installer | Overkill?

I use iTunes at home and at work for my music listening application of choice.

However, recently a few things have been beginning to annoy me.

  1. An update seems to come out once every 2 weeks.
  2. When there is an update, it requires me to have to download a brand to EXE file that I have to install. I thought Apple was all about making things better and more efficient? Why do I have to install the entire iTunes application all over again just for an update? I know it’s installing the whole thing because even though I have a previous version of iTunes AND Quicktime installed, the install message says “removing files….removing application…installing quicktime…”. So just for an update, I have to download a 7mb file just to have the whole thing installed again?
  3. Maybe it’s just my computer (Windows XP) but everytime I install one of these “updates” it forces me to shut down many of my open applications. Why? Maybe I want Firefox open. Maybe I want Dreamweaver open. Just give me the damn update and be done with it.

I know many of you Mac heads out there love everything Apple does and think they have hung the moon, but everyone makes mistakes and I think the iTunes update application/install is overkill and not efficient.

This has been my weekly rant :)
